New national study ranks St. Charles County one of the healthiest counties in Missouri

In the most recent eNewsletter from the St Charles County Economic Development Center (EDC) it noted  St. Charles County MO

New national study ranks St. Charles County one of the healthiest counties in Missouri

has again been ranked one of the healthiest counties in Missouri based on a 2011 national study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. This year’s County Health Rankings Report placed St. Charles County No. 1 in Health Factors and No. 3 in Health Outcomes out of 114 Missouri Counties.

The top five Missouri regions for Health Factors were St. Charles County (No. 1), Boone County (No. 2), Nodaway County (No. 3), St. Louis County (No. 4) and Platte County (No. 5).

The state’s top five regions for Health Outcomes were Christian County (No. 1), Platte County (No. 2), St. Charles County (No. 3), Johnson County (No. 4) and Atchison County (No. 5).

“The continued success in St. Charles County’s health rankings is attributable in a large part to the exceptional hospital systems we have in place thanks to SSM, BJC and St. Luke’s. At the same time, eating right, exercising, getting preventive care — that’s what people have to do to stay healthy,” said Greg Prestemon, president and chief executive officer for the Economic Development Center of St. Charles County (EDC).

This report, along with many other factors, is why you should consider moving into St Charles County MO when relocating to the Greater St. Louis Metro area.

If you are a business owner thinking of moving your business to the Midwest then let me suggest that you consider moving into St Charles County.  Not simply because of the wonderful Health ranking but there is a great workforce here to help you grow your business.

International Fun at Work Day……

International Fun at Work Day……

International Fun at Work Day......

There are 2 celebrations of this day Fun at Work Day will always be on Jan. 28th.   However, International Fun at Work Day will always be on April 1st.

Fun at Work Day is a day to have fun at work for once. What a day to have fun at work.  Who would have thunk it, April 1st, a day like April Fool’s Day would be a day to have fun at work?  In the ideal world, work should be fun.  But normally, work is not intended to have fun.  It’s intended to get work done and not play. You’re a very lucky person, if you if you can get work done and have fun doing it. The lucky souls in this situation, love their job.

Unfortunately, all of us are not lucky enough to have a job that’s fun to do.  If that’s you, then today is a day just for you!  Think of ways to make your job more fun and exciting.  Look to do some fun things at work today, even if it takes away from production just a wee bit.

If you are having a tough time thinking of fun thing to do here is a website that advocates having fun; http://playfair.com/.   Let me suggest sending a standing “O”vation to someone to start the fun.  All you need is an email address.  If your company meetings are boring then you may want to have Matt come in a do a presentation.

If you do fun things today that is counter-productive, or takes you away from the job, make sure you get your boss’ permission first.  Better still, get him or her involved.
